Barbara Louise Showalter, of Anderson, was born on February 22, 1928 and on April 27, 2017 she left this world and the greatest promise ever given was fulfilled; she went to be with her Jesus.
Barbara died with her family at her side, under the exceptional care and grace offered by Heartland Hospice. She was surrounded by the adoration of her loving family and her loyal dog.
She was preceded in death by parents Estace and Julia Windlan and brother Bob (Lou) Windlan. Barbara is now reunited in the greatest of joy, with her son Jim Showalter, whom she had missed deeply for eight years.
Her faithful husband Gerald Showalter survives her; the two shared a deep devotion, as evidenced by 66 years of marriage.
To her daughter Julie Jeffers, Barbara was “Mom”. They loved each other with complete adoration and trust and were the absolute best of friends. They shared coffee together every day for nearly forty years.
To her granddaughters, Barbara was “Nana”. Her unconditional love for Brook Hebner, Courtni Jeffers and Grace Showalter was unmatched and her devotion to them moved mountains.
Her son-in-law Troy Hebner, step-grandson John Hebner, future son-in-law Caleb Greene, life-long friend Betty McIntyre and her faithful dog Kipper also survive Barbara.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at South Meridian Church of God, 2402 Meridian St, Anderson, IN 46016. Visiting hours are from 4pm-6pm and a short service at the church will follow.
