Obituary

Born December 25, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri, William Finn Bennett
passed quietly in Ojai, California on April 25, 2017.
“Bill” joined the U.S. Navy just weeks after Pearl Harbor and was a sonar tech on the destroyer U.S.S. Healy that saw action in the pacific theater during WWII.
After the war Bill married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Ann Watkins. He enrolled in the University of Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
After spending the early years of their family life in Missouri, Bill and Marge headed west and raised their 3 children in Granada Hills, California where Bill worked for many years in the aerospace industry until his retirement in 1988.
After retirement Bill pursued his favorite past times, fishing in his boat, creating dishes from the Julia Child cook book, playing bridge with Marge and their friends and taking trips to Lake Tahoe.
In 2007, after Marjorie’s passing, Bill moved to Ventura County and lived at the Gables of Ojai for 10 years where he made many friends and enjoyed life to the fullest.
William Finn Bennett is survived by his daughter Dianne, his sons William and Robert plus 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
