Lady Lake, FL - Mrs. Sharon E. Bump, age 78, a Florida “Snowbird” since 2000, died peacefully in the care of her husband and hospice at her Lady Lake home, Tuesday evening, April 25, after a courageous two year battle with declining health. She was the beloved wife of Walter A. Bump Jr., with whom she would have celebrated a fifty year wedding anniversary this coming May 12th.
She was born in Lubec, Maine, in January 1939, the daughter of the late Leroy Cox, and Helen (Huntley)(Cox) Poole, and after the death of her father in her infancy, was raised by her mother and stepfather, Everett L. Poole. After receiving most of her education in a one-room schoolhouse in Maine, she moved to Lynn High School in her senior year to complete her education. After he marriage to Walter, they moved to Lowell, and upon retirement, became “Snowbirds” between Lady Lake during the Winter and Lowell in the Summers. She attended the Lawrence Street Primitive Methodist Church in Lowell.
She was a retired as a cable assembler at Raytheon, and had worked at the South Lowell and West Andover facilities.
Besides her beloved husband; she was the adopted grandmother of Jordan Harris of Chelmsford; and dearest friend of Nancy Clements of Lady Lakes, who had been a prime caregiver to Sharon for the last two years.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Dennis Cox.
Visiting hours Wednesday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
