Obituary

Pagliarulo, Anthony J. of West Roxbury died surrounded by his family at the age of 86 on April 26, 2017 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was a devoted husband for 57 years to Joan (May) Pagliarulo. He was a life-long resident of Boston. He attended Brighton High School and then was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. He was commissioned a First Lieutenant at Fort Benning Georgia, and served in the Reserves for ten years. He played football for the Chippewas of South Boston. He graduated from Northeastern University and earned an M.B.A. from Boston College. He worked as the Finance Director at the Boston Housing Authority for 22 years. He then worked as an Auditor for the MA Turnpike Authority, and retired in 1996.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife Joan and his nine children: Joanne and her husband Martin Logue of Braintree, Mary and her husband Piotr Bartkiewicz of Newburyport, Anthony and his wife Lisa Pagliarulo of Medfield, Susan and her husband Paul Brady of Canton, Nancy and her husband Dan Moynihan of Walpole, Joseph and his wife Ellen Pagliarulo of West Roxbury, John Pagliarulo of West Roxbury, Antoinette and her husband Tom McAdams of Walpole, and Elaine Pagliarulo of West Roxbury; 18 grandchildren; Brianne, Danny, Kim, Sarah, Taryn, Ryan, Tommy, Shannon, Lauren, Julia, Anna, Steven, Walker, Lucas, Susie, Stephanie, Elizabeth and Thomas Jr., brother of Mary Munger, Connie Killeen, Robert Pagliarulo, Daniel Page, and Judy Dematteo, son of the late Nicola and Antonetta (Capodilupo) Pagliarulo of Roslindale, brother of the late Michael (his identical twin), Dominic, Guy, Nicholas, Joseph, Anna McKenzie, and Lucy Festa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Anthony was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was an active member of St. Theresa’s Church, serving as president of the Holy Name Society.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 30th from 2:30 to 7:00 PM at Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home: 1803 Centre Street West Roxbury, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury, on Monday May 1st at 10 AM. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain.
