Mary E. (Diamond) Jones, 80, of Walpole, died April 25 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Brighton following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Leroy P. Jones who died in 1993.
Born in Boston, June 24, 1936, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Pierce) Diamond, Mary was a lifelong Walpole resident.
She had attended Walpole High School and the Peabody School in Norwood.
Mrs. Jones had worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s contracting company for many years.
Mary had been active in the Walpole Chamber of Commerce and loved to travel.
She is survived by her children, Leroy P. Jones, Jr of Walpole, Russell E. Jones of Walpole, Jacqueline A. Landry of Walpole and Jerilyn A. Heimlich of Walpole. She was the mother of the late Kenneth A. Jones.
She is also survived by her brother John Diamond of Port Charlotte, Florida and the late Thomas Diamond.
Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Kenneth, Michael, Robert, Kelsey, Emily, Sara, Christina, Christopher, Matthew, Russell, Jr., Andrew, Jessica, Alexandra, Brandon and Cori. She was the grandmother of the late William Jones.
She is also survived by her 8 greatgrandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com ) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 10:00a.m.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
