AUBURN; Gayle K. (Haran) Dufour, 70, died Monday, April 24, 2017, with her children by her side.
Gayle is survived by two sons, Thomas Dufour and his fiancee Kathleen of Auburn, MA, and Patrick Dufour and his wife Candice of Leicester, MA; a daughter Katelyn Browning and her husband Jonathan of Auburn, MA; seven grandchildren: Finnegan and Quinn Dufour, Piper, Violet and Fiona Browning, and Ashley and Jamie Deneault; a sister, Maureen Haran of Millbury and a brother, Thomas Haran of Silver Spring, MD as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas F.X. Haran and Helena (Pajka) Haran, her brother John P. Haran, and a son, Liam Michael Dufour.
Gayle was born and raised in Worcester, attending St. Stephen’s School before graduating from Worcester State in 1968 with her B.A, followed by her Masters in 1971 and a Masters in Special Ed from Fitchburg State in 1987. She initially taught in Millbury and Auburn, before spending the majority of her career in the Worcester Public Schools before retiring in 2009, teaching mainly at Clark St, Lincoln St, and Chandler Street Schools. Gayle cherished the impact she had on the lives of her students and the friendships forged with fellow educators. She was an avid crocheter, and her family will cherish the gifts she made for them throughout the years. Gayle loved to read, listen to Irish music, and above all spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
The Funeral will be held Friday, April 28 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St. Leicester, with a Mass at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 P.M. in the Funeral Home.
