Doyle “Wayne” Cheek, 77, of Tifton passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rickey Wells, Elder David Weinberger and Elder Robert Tucker officiating. Mr. Cheek will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Saul Eady officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
John Cheek, Andrew Cheek, Camron Nance, Joey Nance, Daniel Cheek and David Cheek will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Shelley and Kainen Jordan.
Born February 19, 1940 in Tift County, Mr. Cheek was the son of the late Doyle A. Cheek and Hester Annette Coffey Cheek. Before retiring, he was employed at J. P. Stevens and Shaw Industries. He served in the Georgia National Guard and was a member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Lenox.
Mr. Cheek is survived by his wife, Rose Pearl Cooper Cheek of Tifton; his five children and their spouses, Doyle and Dana Cheek of Sycamore, Sara and Jimmy Poole of Coolidge, Rhonda and Joe Nance of Enigma, David and Heather Cheek of Tifton and Karen and Zino Sadat of Lilburn; one sister, Addie Denby of Albany; 14 grandchildren, Daniel Cheek and wife Kaitlyn, David Cheek, Marlina Lane, Keith Shelley, Saralyn Shelley, Brannon Nance and wife Kelly, Camron Nance, Joey Nance, John Cheek, Andrew Cheek, Melissa Cheek, Kaley Jordan, Kainen Jordan and Zakaria Sadat; and five great-grandchildren.
