James P. Carvalho, 77 of New Bedford died April 23, 2017 at Vibra Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Jacqueline M. (Poulin) Carvalho with who he shared 23 years of marriage.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late John V. and Esther (Jardin) Carvalho, he lived in Freetown and Acushnet before returning to New Bedford.
Mr. Carvalho was formerly employed by the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed dancing every weekend, walking around Buttonwood Park every morning and attending antique car shows with his 1951 Ford.
Mr. Carvalho served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Carvalho of Acushnet; a brother, John Carvalho of New Bedford; and his step-children, Michelle Cabral and her husband David and Peter Roda and his companion Joyce Taylor, all of New Bedford.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 26th from 4-8 PM.
