Obituary

MOULTONBOROUGH, NH - Donald “Don” Basil Weatherbee, 80, formerly of Littleton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on April 15, 2017 with his loving family at his side.
Don was born November 19, 1936 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, son of Basil and Emily Mae (Clarke) Weatherbee. Don graduated from Wilmington High School where he played hockey and football and then attended Northeastern University. His 33-year career at AT&T began in Boston. He then transferred to Maine working at the Air Force Base in Topsfield where he worked in communication between radar station missiles on the borders of northeastern sites. He then transferred to Pittsfield, Massachusetts for 6 years. While in Pittsfield, he became an ordained deacon at his church. He then moved to Littleton, Massachusetts for 25 years until his retirement in Moultonborough. He enjoyed golfing, boating and spending time with family on Lake Winnipesaukee. Don will be remembered as a thoughtful and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Button) Weatherbee of Moultonborough, NH, daughter Donna Pestana and her husband Wayne of Hudson, NH, two sons; Richard Weatherbee and his wife Susan of Meredith, NH and Robert Weatherbee and his wife Michelle of Hudson, MA. He is also survived by his six grandchildren; Brandon Weatherbee and his wife Brittany, Noël Weatherbee, Ashley Scott and her husband Gerald, Brett Pestana, Morgan Weatherbee and Vivian Weatherbee, a great-grandson, Gerald Scott IV, his sisters Dorothy Irwin of Wilmington, MA, Beatrice Randall of Hampstead, NH, his brother Robert Weatherbee of Hudson, FL. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, William Weatherbee, and one sister, Louise Smith.
A memorial service will be held on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, 1018 Whittier Highway, Moultonborough, NH. All are welcome to attend.
