EAST FALMOUTH / WEST BOYSLTON – Ronald G. Manion, 73 of East Falmouth and formerly of West Boylston, died peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital following an illness.
Ron was born in Worcester, a son of the late Norman F. and Alice (Garceau) Manion. He was raised in Leicester, where he graduated from Leicester High School. Ron continued his education at Quinsigamond Community College and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Clark University. He met the love of his life, Kathleen McCue while a student at Leicester High and they married in 1966, shortly after graduating. Ron joined the United States Marine Corps soon after and following his service time, he began his working career in the banking field. This led to him starting his own business in Nashua, NH that he ran for over 30 years.
Throughout his life, Ron maintained a sense of adventure that led him to obtaining his pilot’s license, scuba diving certification and compelled him to travel the world with family and friends. In addition, he was a longtime soccer coach in West Boylston, as well as an avid golfer, boater, skier, and home chef. Ron and Kathy relocated to Cape Cod full time 3 years ago and loved living on the water. He was a former member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in West Boylston.
Ron will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of more than 50 years, Kathleen (McCue) Manion; his son, Christopher J. Manion of Quincy; his two brothers, Norman F. Manion, Jr. and Michael Manion of Leicester; and several nieces, nephews, and sisters in-law whom he cared deeply for.
Ron’s family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Douglas Rubinson, Beth Goddard, NP and Kerri Ramsdell, RN of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for the devoted care shown to him during the past several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ron’s family on Thursday, April 20, from 5-8 pm at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. His funeral will be held on Friday, April 21, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston.
