Obituary

Cavanaugh, Robert E., age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 17, 2017. Born, raised and educated in Boston, he was a retired Crane Operator and late member of IUOE Local 4. Mr. Cavanaugh was a member of Old Colony Yacht Club, Dorchester and prior to its closing formerly an active member of Star of the Sea Church, Squantum. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. The beloved husband of the late Lorraine M. (Gorski), he is survived by his devoted sons; Michael Cavanaugh & his wife Sandra of Quincy and Robert Cavanaugh and his wife Karen of Mansfield as well as his cherished grandchildren; Kimberly, Joseph and Lauren Cavanaugh and great grandchildren Gavin Krystyniak and Maddy Knoblich. Dear brother of Gert Finn of Dorchester and the late May Bandy, Hazel Cavanaugh, Helen DeMille, Alice Drennen James, George, Richard and John Cavanaugh. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., N. Quincy, Thursday, April 20th at 10. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday 4 to 8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy
