Worcester: Birgit E. (Hellberg) Landgren, 94, of Worcester, formerly of Plymouth, MA and Ocala, FL, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Lutheran Healthcare Center. She leaves two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews locally as well as several cousins in Sweden. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years- Gustav Landgren, a sister Ingrid Sarkala, and a brother Nils Hellberg.
Brigit was born in Gothenborg, Sweden, daughter of the late Carl and Aurora (Schmidt) Hellberg. She graduated from North High School in Worcester and worked for many years as a medical secretary in local doctor's office. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and VASA Nordic Lodge #611.
According to her wishes, there are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church 41 Whitmarsh Ave. Worcester. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Birgit's memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield.
