Mary was born on January 15, 1943 to her loving parents, John and Rita (St George) McCarthy in Cambridge, MA. She graduated with the Class of 1961 from the Keith Academy in Lowell. Mary had a long and varied career where she used her skills in many different vocations. She worked for many years as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Town of Wilmington, her smiling face could be found busily waiting tables at Bishop’s Restaurant and the North Meadow Tennis Club. Mary finished her career working as an executive assistant for the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board until her retirement. Later in life she found her soulmate, Francis, and they were wed in a simple ceremony in their backyard on July 1, 1989. Mary had civic pride and served on the Lawrence St Patrick’s Day parade committee. Mary was known to enjoy the quiet activities of reading and taking her daily walks. Mary had an uncanny knack of knowing where and how to find a good bargain. As a woman who championed and was devoted to many different causes, she was devoted first and foremost to her family and an advocate for woman’s rights and equality. Mary was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched many lives and was well loved by all.
