Obituary

Andover – Ann (Higgins) Bride, of Andover, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late William T. Bride, Jr.

Ann, daughter of the late Frederick A. and Katharine (McManmon) Higgins, was born in Lowell and was raised in both Methuen and Andover. She graduated from Abbot Academy and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Wellesley College. She received her MBA from Radcliffe/Harvard University.

Ann held numerous board positions with the Andover Garden Club, Board of Ladies of Merrimack College, Guild of the Infant Savior, and the Women of Northern Essex Community College Board. She was a member of the Vesper Country Club, Abenaqui Country Club, the Lanam Club, and the Rye Beach Club. She was also a member of the Big Brother-Big Sister Association of Greater Lawrence and a long-time supporter of the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club.

Ann will be deeply missed by her five children, Katharine B. Reed and her husband Jay of Wilbraham, Susie B. Luer and her husband Mark of Newport Beach, California, W. Thomas Bride and his wife Kristin of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Amy Bride of Newburyport and Jennifer Bride of Andover; five grandchildren, Alexander Reed, Jack Bride, Carson Bride, Maximilian Luer and Madeleine Luer; her loving cousins, Maureen O’Connell of Los Gatos, CA, John G. Higgins of Andover, and Carole O’Connor of Andover; and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her cousin, Lawrence Higgins.

Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Ann’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4 – 7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine’s Church, 43 Essex St., Andover on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Andover.
