Obituary

Mary T. (Sloane) (McGee) Nathan, 87, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Brockton and Brewster, died peacefully, February 13, 2017. Mary was the beloved wife for 41 years of George Nathan. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Catherine (Murphy) Sloane. Mary was raised in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. Mary was an accountant and prior to retirement had been employed by Branded Liquors in Westwood and before that at Beacon Sales in Somerville. Always active in her community environment, she volunteered for years at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s Clinical Research, the Sarasota Van Wezel Theater and Manatee County Polls, was a Charter member of Brockton Youth Hockey and was a former member of the Captains Golf Course in Brewster. Mary was known to be a wonderful, loving and caring woman who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved to travel, loved the beaches of Cape Cod and Florida, excelled at crocheting and last but not least, loved to play Bingo. She will truly be missed by all of her family and friends.

Mary was the loving mother of five children, Robert McGee, Jr. and his wife Marian of South Hadley, Beverly Capece and her husband James of Easton, Jean Sullivan of Bridgewater, Judith LaBelle and her husband Brian of Plainville, and Gary Nathan of Foxborough. She was the cherished grandmother of ten grandchildren, Timothy McGee and his fiancée Jenny Ly, Lauren O’Roark and her husband Evan, Bradley, Jeffrey and Molly Capece, Marc and Ryan Sullivan, Brian and Daniel LaBelle, and Emily Nathan. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert McGee who died in 1973 and by her sister Helen Matthews and brothers Christopher and John Sloane.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday, April 21, 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, Easton at 9am. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
