New Bedford — Doris Correia, age 79 of Dartmouth, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. She was the loving wife of 62 years to Manuel Correia and the daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Almeida) Arruda.
A lifelong resident of this area, Doris worked as a stitcher for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting and arts and craft but her real joy was the Sunday dinners she prepared each week for the entire family to enjoy together.
Her family includes her husband, Manuel Correia of Dartmouth; 2 children: Bruce Correia and his wife, Annette, of Tiverton, RI; and the late Charles Correia and his wife, Jean Correia of Westport; grandchildren: Melissa Taylor and her husband, Ronald, Jr.; Stacy Correia and her fiancé, Jason Rowe; great grandchildren: Ronald III, and Kalie; 2 sister in-laws: Celeste Arruda and Mary Ann Machado; predeceased siblings, Joseph Arruda, Jr, Manuel Arruda and Florence Casmiro.
Mrs. Correia's funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Parish Center, Dartmouth at 10:00 AM. Burial in St. John Cemetery.
