Obituary

Victor DeRosa 95 of Cocoa Florida and formerly of Natick died in an automobile accident on Tuesday March 14, 2017 in Cocoa Florida.

He was the beloved husband of the late Nelda (Spinazzola) DeRosa.

A Natick resident for over 70 years, he was born in Melito Irpino Italy the son of the late Sabatino and Concetta (Spinazzola) DeRosa.

Mr. DeRosa came to the United States in 1937 at the age of 16 quickly learned English became a proud US citizen. His first job was in a bakery earning five dollars a week and a loaf of bread. During World War II he worked as a welder in the Quincy Naval Shipyards helping the US War effort.

After the war he started a greenhouse and florist business on West Central Street in Natick. Victor and his wife Nelda worked very hard and developed a reputation as one of the finest growers of exquisite orchids in the United States. He exhibited annually at the Massachusetts Horticultural Show in Boston every March and was awarded numerous times for Best in Show.

Victor also was very Patriotic and worked with the Natick Veterans Office Memorial Day week every year donating and placing beautiful red geraniums on every Veterans grave in the town’s cemeteries.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Carol O’Connell and her husband William of Cocoa Florida, his cherished granddaughter Victoria O’Connell of Cocoa FL, his loving sister Maria Corda of Wellesley and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday April 1 at 8:45 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Tarcisius Church 562 Waverly Street Framingham at 10:00A.M.

Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Interment St Tarcisius Cemetery.
