Eleanor E. Lopes, 80 of New Bedford died March 26, 2017 at home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jose A. and Anna E. (Costa) Lopes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Eleanor was a very hard worker and was formerly employed by several local fish houses before retiring from AFC Cable after over 20 years of service.
She enjoyed spending time at the casino, cooking big family meals but most of all, she enjoyed taking care of family, friends and complete strangers always putting everyone else before herself.
Survivors include 3 sons, Mickey Lopes of Dartmouth, Arne Lopes and Scott Lopes, both of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Annamarie Lopes and Urana Lopes, both of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Eileen Kuiee of Newport and Anna Ramos of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Lopes, John Lopes, Walter Lopes, Barnard Lopes, Hope Addison and Nettie Lopes.
