Obituary

Daniel F. Kent, a 40 year resident of Winthrop and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home in Winthrop. He was 95 years of age.

Daniel was born in Boston on February 16, 1922, a son of the late Michael Kent and Bridget (Mahoney) Kent. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Daniel enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. on October 8, 1942 and served his country with pride and honor during WWII. Daniel was discharged on January 10, 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, Daniel became a self-employed carpenter. He would later go on to work as a Building Inspector for the City of Boston. Daniel retired as a Chief Building Inspector after working for over 30 years.

Daniel is the beloved husband of the late Virginia (Meagher) Kent. He is the loving father of Virginia Kent of Winthrop. He is the beloved brother of Margaret O'Brien of West Roxbury, and the late James Kent, Anna Kent, John Kent, Joseph Kent, and Mary Keane.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Daniel's visiting hours on Thursday morning, March 30, 2017 from 9:30AM to 11AM with his Funeral Service at 11AM in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. CHARLESTOWN. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
