Obituary

Norma Jean (Robbins) King, 85, passed away with her daughter by her side at
The Waterford in Smyrna Assisted Living on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Charles “Dudley” King; and daughter, Jennifer “Kelly” King of Nashville, Tennessee. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Ernest Clark and Eva Catherine (Whitworth) Robbins.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by step siblings, Virginia (Robbins) Huber, Mary (Robbins) Phelps, Kenneth Clark Robbins and Vernon Lee Johnson.
Mrs. King was a 1949 graduate of Valley High School and attended Bryant & Stratton Business College (Louisville, Kentucky) graduating in July 1950. She was
a member of Ralph Avenue Baptist Church (Shively, Kentucky) where she sang in the choir and later joined The Melody Makers Musical Performance Group singing alto. Throughout her life Mrs. King had a passion for music, was a talented artist, loved being outside attending to her many beautiful flower gardens and in later years, enjoyed traveling with her husband. Mrs. King was an exceptional cook and even taught herself to make beautiful ornate wedding cakes. Mrs. King was loved by all who knew her and known as “Mamma King” to all the Doss High School Marching Band members from the years of 1980-1984. She was an active Band Booster, never missed a performance and her daughter, Kelly, is forever grateful. Being a wife and mother were the most important roles to Mrs. King.
Dudley and Kelly would like to recognize the staff of The Waterford in Smyrna (Smyrna, TN), in addition to Gentiva Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care and love you shared with Norma King. Also, special thanks to
Phyllis & Jenny Hundley; Mildred & Becky Lee; Cindee, Rick & Daniel Scroggy;
