Vito Ivas
Lifelong Tewksbury Resident

TEWKSBURY: Vito Ivas, born August 13, 1923 in Tewksbury, died March 24, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born, lived, and died on the same property.

He graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.

His parents were Stanley and Anna, both immigrants from Lithuania. He was pre-deceased by his brother Alex and wife Joanne.

He married Marilyn E. Thoits in Tewksbury in 1948, and was married for 68 years. He leaves his wife Marilyn, and children Steve Ivas and his wife Jeanne of Norwell, Stan Ivas and his wife Karen of Mansfield, and Pat Wolf and her husband Tom of Tewksbury.

He also leaves grandchildren Lexie, Nicholas, Justin, Jessica, Jeffrey, Kristina, Daniel, and is pre-deceased by Jonathan. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Camden.

Vito followed in his father’s footsteps as a cabinetmaker, and was known for high-quality craftsmanship restoring antiques and building reproduction furniture.

The family extends special thanks to Beacon Hospice for their extraordinary and compassionate care.

Calling hours are Tuesday, March 28, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
