Obituary

John L. “Sidecar” Catizone, of Winthrop, a former longtime Medford resident, passed away suddenly, at his home on Wednesday, March 22nd. He was 72.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Eugene and Leonarda (Spinale) Catizone, and attended local schools.

In his spare time, Sidecar enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles. He got his nick name Sidecar because he rode a motorcycle with one attached to it. He was an active participant with the Blessing of the Bikes, while letting the priest ride in his sidecar and various charitable bike runs. Sidecar enjoyed his TeAmo cigars just like his own father. He also enjoyed wood carving and visiting flea markets.

He was the father of John Catizone Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Hampton, New Hampshire, Dante Catizone and his wife Joanne of Tewksbury, Michael Catizone and his wife Kim of Lynnfield, Jason Catizone and his wife Shannon of Pelham, New Hampshire, Gena Dunn and her husband Michael of Revere, Angela Nunez and her husband Chris of Methuen. He was the grandfather of nine and was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, April 5th from 9-11AM followed by a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford.
