Obituary


Louis Albert Auclair, 88, of Randolph, died March 18, 2017 in Harrisburg, NC surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, RI, the son of Lionel and Henrietta (Charpentier), Auclair, he was a lifelong resident of Cumberland, RI until 2015. Married to Florence (Parenteau) Auclair for 36 years.
In his early years, Mr. Auclair worked in a greenhouse and gardening was something he always took pride in. He maintained a friendly competition every year with his gardening buddies as to who would have the first tomato by July 4th. He was a bricklayer by trade and built five brick homes as well as left his mark on many other homes in the way chimneys, walkways and stairs. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Parris Island, S.C.
After returning home, Mr. Auclair began a long career working at the General Motors plant in Framingham, Mass. He retired after 30 years of service in 1981.

Mr. Auclair loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years in his beloved mountains of New Hampshire. He also enjoyed blueberry picking, clamming and quahogging and was known for his special “stuffies”. He was a longtime member of the Millerville Men’s Club in Blackstone, Mass.

Louis was preceded in death by his son Paul (Celina) Auclair; his grandson, SSgt Paul R. Auclair Jr. and his brother, Lionel (Muriel) Auclair.

He leaves his daughter Jeannette (Eugene) Joyal of Harrisburg, NC: grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda) Joyal and Matthew (Misty) Joyal. His daughter Judy (Mike) Hubbs of Cumberland, RI; grandchild Lauren Lapierre. His daughter in law Celina (Charland) Auclair of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Candace Lett and Marie Auclair and six great grandchildren, Christopher, Timberely, Alexis, Matthew, Riley and Cohen.

A graveside service will be held Saturday June 10, 2017 at 10 AM at the Randolph Cemetery.
