Franklin Jennings
Martinez, GA –Mr. Franklin Eugene Jennings, 83, husband of the late Mrs. Edith Fulcher Jennings, entered into rest on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
Franklin was born in 1934 to the late George Henry Jennings, Sr. and Estelle Glisson Jennings. He was a caring son to his parents, a loving brother and devoted husband. Franklin is going to be missed for his nurturing love of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Franklin was a retired skilled mason with Ingram Masonry. He was a member of the Hephzibah United Methodist Church since 1955 where he worshiped and served in many capacities; and a former member of the Hephzibah Lions Club. Franklin was a man of God. He was a man of family and lived his entire life as a strong and pervasive example of what good men do in service to God, to family and to friends and the community.
He leaves behind his brother Robert Lee (Peggy) Jennings; sister, Louisa Estelle J. Nix; daughters, Lynda Schmidt (L.D.) of Prattville, AL and Robin Browning (Tommy) of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Chris Hutchinson (Jackie) of Huntsville, AL, Lisa Sorrells (David) of Evans, GA, Holly Rodriguez of Prattville, AL and Lee Browning of Augusta, GA; and great grandchildren, Ella Blake Summerlin, Hudson David Sorrells, Jackson Alan and Levi Clark Hutchinson. He is preceded in death by three brothers, George Henry, Jr., Lowell A, and Winston Anthony Jennings and his sister, Helen Elizabath J. Canfield.
The funeral service will be Friday, March 24, 2017, 11:00 A.M, in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Wade Sosbee officiating. Interment will follow at Hephzibah-Vance Cemetery; Hephzibah, GA. Pallbearers will be Chris Hutchinson, Lee Browning, David Sorrells, Tommy Browning, L.D. Schmidt and Steve Rhodes.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia Medical Center Hospital, 1446 Harper St, Suite BT1844, Augusta, GA 30912.
