Obituary

Dorothy Louise (Bausman) Chitty,78, cherished wife for 45 years of Dr. Auburn P. Chitty, beloved mother of Mark and his wife Janet, and adored grandmother of Ryan and Aria, passed away on March 22, 2017. Dottie’s happiest times were spent with her family, and her grandchildren were the center of her world.

She was born in Springfield, Ohio on October 27, 1938, spent her childhood and teen years in Upstate New York, and lived in Massachusetts from 1957 until 1988. After 17 years in Georgia, she and Auburn returned to Massachusetts in 2005 to spend her final years with her grandchildren.

A Piano Performance graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Dottie taught in the Cohasset Public Schools and the Music Department of Eastern Nazarene College, her undergraduate alma mater, in the 1960’s and 1970’s. After her teaching years, she was a full-time mom for Mark and office manager for Auburn’s medical practice. She shared her generosity of spirit, passionate love of music, deep faith in God, and optimistic zest for life with all whom she met.

She is survived by: her husband, Dr. Auburn P. Chitty of Franklin; son Mark Chitty and his wife Janet of Walpole; grandchildren Ryan and Aria Chitty of Walpole; stepchildren Kelvin Chitty and Karen McCardle, grandchildren Michael Chitty, Allison McCardle, Angela McCardle, and Ashley Walden and great-grandchildren, all of Georgia; and sister Sherry Armstrong of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence W. (Ted) Bausman and Lucille Arthur Bausman and her brothers Clarence W. (Bud) Bausman, Jr. and Donald A. Bausman.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27 in the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be private.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin.
