Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jeanne D. (Prince) Mercier, 95, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, March 20, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at Wilbraham surrounded by her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Comte de Beauce, Province of Quebec, Canada on December 3, 1921, the beloved daughter of the late John and Marie (Gagne) Prince. She was raised in Holyoke, attended Holyoke schools and had moved to Chicopee in 1953 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as a binder for 34 years at the former American Pad and Paper Company in Holyoke and retired in 1982. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She loved clothes shopping and was known for her many beautiful outfits. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and dear friends. Her family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the caring staff at Wingate at Wilbraham for the wonderful care they provided to her for the past four years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Paul E. Mercier who was Called Home on April 15, 1990. She leaves her two loving children, Lorraine J. Gosselin and her husband, Raymond, of Port Orange, FL and Paul R. Mercier and his wife, Linda, of Monson; her two cherished grandsons, Shannon “Sam” Mercier and his wife, Tracy, and Brennan Mercier, all of Monson; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Raeanne Mercier and her fiancé, Tim Fanion, Ambermae Mercier and her companion, Jesse Burlingame, and Zachary Mercier; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Mercier and Prince families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her three dear brothers, Wilfred, Joseph and Gerald Prince. Her funeral services will be private at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Jeanne’s love of animals, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Central New England Equine Rescue (CNEER), 96 New Braintree Road, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
