Obituary


Eleanor M. (Santagati) MacLean, 84 of Abington, died on March 20th in Braintree, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Sebastian and Rose (Sprizza) Santagati.

Eleanor was born August 2, 1932 in Boston and moved to Abington in 1966.

She was the wife of the late Russell A. MacLean, Sr. Loving mother of Richard MacLean and his companion Darlene Byrd of Allenton, MI, Russell, Jr. of Whitman, Brian MacLean and his wife Debi of Abington, Carol Nugent and her companion Phil Snow of Buzzards Bay, Gregory MacLean and companion Robin Hensley of Bridgewater, Cheryl Tosone and her husband Joseph of Abington and her loving niece Susan Gagnon of Weymouth. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Jessica Magararu, Jennifer Nugent, Jamie Nugent, Jaclyn Nugent, Michael Nugent, Matthew MacLean, Kevin MacLean, Tracey MacLean, Joseph Tosone, Jacob Tosone and Christopher Tosone, also 7 great grandchildren Dylan and Aidan Magararu, Cristian, Brennan, Camden, Gavin and Natalie Nugent. Sister of Josephine Ensko of Roslindale, Anthony (Sonny) Santagati of Newton, the late Carmela (Millie) McLaughlin, Connie Beaulieu, Rose Gagnon and John Santagati. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Ellie loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed cooking meals for her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by her friends at Vinson Blanchard in Abington where she lived for 23 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Friday March 24th at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visitation will be held on Thursday March 23rd from 4:00-8:00PM.
