Obituary

AGAWAM – Harriet Lorraine (McLeod) Fontaine, 84, of Agawam, was Called Safely Home on Friday, March 17, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Boston on February 22, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Henry M. and Harriet E. (Perkins) McLeod. She moved to Connecticut as a young girl with her family and had lived in Holyoke, Chicopee and Springfield before moving to Agawam around 1967 where she resided the remainder of her life. She was employed for many years as a Dietary Aide at the Heritage Hall Nursing Homes in Agawam. In her leisure time, she enjoyed meeting her many friends at the Agawam Senior Center where she was involved in many activities. Above all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her feline companions, Mitsue and Sassy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of over 35 years, Real Lucien Fontaine who was Called Home on August 25, 1987. She leaves her three loving children, Denise G. Gama and her husband, Silvestre, of Ludlow, Larry G. Fontaine and his wife, Holly, of Somers, CT and Kenneth P. Fontaine of Westfield; her six cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Fontaine and his partner, Monique Veteramo, Jessica Bickel, Michelle Gama, Liana Gama, Daniel Fontaine and his wife, Kathryn, and Kristen Prior and her husband, Michael; her eight cherished great-grandchildren, Aislynn and Evan Fontaine, Austin and Zachary Bickel, Luciano Gama, Lily Fontaine, and Hailey and Olivia Prior; her two dear brothers, her twin Sonny McLeod of Northborough, MA and Bobby McLeod of Rocky Hill, CT; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Fontaine and McLeod families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear sister, Carol Lodge. Her family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Heritage Dialysis Center in Agawam for the wonderful care they provided to Lorraine during her many visits. Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
