Obituary

Abington – Pearl P. (Duffey) Averell 95, a lifelong resident of Abington, died Monday March 20 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of fifty-seven years to the late John W. Averell.

Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Ferris) Duffey.

Prior to her retirement she had worked over thirty years as an actuary for the Onebeacon Insurance Company of Boston.

As a lifelong resident of Abington, Pearl had been an active attendee of the Abington Baptist Church and an active member Abington Senior Citizens. She had enjoyed knitting, quilting and bingo but her greatest joy was the time spent with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her nephews Walter Steenson of Rochester, NY and Jeff Steenson of Wenonah, NJ and her niece Leslie Peacock and her husband Stephen of Plymouth, and her great nieces and nephews, Jennifer Johnson of Carver, Erin Peacock of Salisbury and Jason Peacock of Buckfield, ME. She was predeceased by her sister Betty Steenson.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday March 23 at 10:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday March 22 from 2:00-4:00 PM.
