John J. Machini, 74

Dateline: Norton, MA

John J. Machini, age 74, of Norton, formerly of Brockton passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center in Stoughton. He was the beloved husband of Frances M. (Pierce) Machini, to whom he was wed on November 15, 1969.

Born in Brockton, MA on September 26, 1942, he was a loving son of the late Dominic J. and Anne C. (Sheehan) Machini.

John grew up in Brockton and was a 1962 graduate of Brockton High School. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Machini loved working for nearly twenty-five years in the maintenance department for the Brockton Housing Authority. He had previously worked for twenty-five years for Local 721 Laborers Union.

John had made his home in Norton for the past ten years. He was a member of the former Bocce Club in Brockton, and loved playing sports with his children and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children Deborah L. Reidy and her husband Paul of Norton, Joseph J. Machini, and his wife Jennifer and her children Skye and Savannah Goba of Norton and the father of the late Mark A. Machini. He was the dear brother of Judith Barry of Mansfield. He was the adoring grandfather of Tyler and Devin Reidy, and is also survived by Mason Shea, an extended member and special part of the Machini family.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral Mass on Monday, March 27th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Military honors will follow.

Visiting hours have been omitted and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
