James N. Philopoulos of Canton, MA passed away peacefully on March 17, 2017 after a brief illness. Jimmy, as he was known to all, attended Thayer Academy and Berwick Academy. He went on to graduate from the University of Denver Hotel and Restaurant Management School. Jimmy was a US Army veteran in the early 70s. After which he was in the Colorado National Guard followed by the Massachusetts National Guard. He was an active owner with his immediate family in their business the Nicholas Restaurant of Norwood Mass. In later years he constantly gave back to his alma mater the University of Denver. He was often referred to as" DU's biggest booster". He actively participated and interviewed prospective students for the University of Denver in the New England region.
He is survived by his parents Nicholas and Mary Philopoulos of Canton his brother John Philopoulos of Canton and his sister Linda Krone and her husband Michael of Westwood. He is also survived by his nieces Cassandra Patrick and her husband Sean, Lauren Krone Wrigley and her husband Brendan, his nephew Nicholas Krone and his wife Saima and grandnephew Heath Wrigley as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jimmy leaves many friends whom he dearly cherished and kept close throughout his life and who cherished him. He left an indelible mark on all those who shared his life. His laughter, generosity and caring will never be forgotten.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday morning from 9:00-11:00 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA 02493, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
