Lonnie “Rawhide“ Pipkin, age 66, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born February 26, 1951 in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Robert Benjamin and Dollie Gilmore Pipkin. Rawhide worked many different jobs in his life, but more recently he lay sod until his health failed. He was a devoted father who enjoyed fishing, working on cars and spending time with family and friends.
Rawhide is survived by his two sons, James Pipkin of Memphis, TN and Lon Michael Pipkin of Oakland, MS; his brother, Dan Pipkin of Oakland, MS; and his granddaughter, Haley Michelle Pipkin of Thaxton, MS.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Jean Dunn and three brothers, Ben “Bull” Pipkin, Ralph Pipkin and William “Bill” Dickey.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in the Goshen Cemetery in Yalobusha County. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
