Myra Lee Whitten Brooks, 84, of Sumner passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Sumner with the Rev. Trey Brown and the Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating. Mrs. Brooks will be laid to rest at Sumner Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Sumner.
J. L. Taylor, Bob Butler, Chad Scott, Steven Mobley, Mark Wynn, Josh Taylor, Edward Rowe, Jody Lokey and Tommy Morris will serve as pallbearers.
Born July 11, 1932 in Mystic, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late R. L. Whitten and Annie Scott Whitten. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Leon Harper; one daughter, Linda Joyce Peavy; one step-son, Grady Carlton Brooks; one brother; and two sisters. She was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Sumner. She enjoyed crocheting and fishing.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, Grady Brooks of Sumner; one daughter, Dorothy Taylor of Nashville; one step-daughter, Carla Elaine Chafin of Sumner; one step-son, Christopher Wade Brooks of Sycamore; one sister, Peggy Robinson of Lenox; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
