S. Francis "Fran" Bruno of Woburn died on Monday, March 13, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center of Burlington. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Salvatore F. and Carmela (Ferrara) Bruno. Fran proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was later employed as a civil engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works. He was a member of VFW Post 1012, American Legion Post 45, and was former Commander of ITAM, Post 8.
Fran was the beloved husband of 57 years to Joan (Neary), and the devoted father of Michael Bruno and his wife Susan, Janet Mosey, and Lauren Bruno, all of Woburn, and James Bruno and his wife Susan of Stoneham. He was the loving grandfather of Connor, Alyssa, Nicholas, Jake and Benjamin, loving step-grandfather of Donna, Michael, Heather and Colleen, and step-great-grandfather of 11. Fran was the brother of Ann Bruno of Naples, FL, and the late Marie and Anthony Bruno.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Monday, March 20 at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours Sunday, March 19, from 3 through 7 PM.
