…Ret. Tewksbury Fire; Palmer Cove Y.C. Commodore; 79
YORK BEACH, ME - Mr. Cosmo J. “Cosie” DiBiase, age 79, a longtime, well-known, and beloved member of the Tewksbury Community, died peacefully Tuesday morning, March 14, at the E.N. Rogers V.A. Hospital in Bedford, after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband for fifty-seven years of Patricia M. (Carline) DiBiase, who died in December, 2015.
Cosie was born in Somerville, in January 1938, one of five children of the late Angelo and Josephine (Forcina) DiBiase, raised in Somerville where he graduated Somerville High with the Class of 1956. He enlisted into the Army, and served as a Private with the Occupation Forces in Germany from 1956 until 1958. He lived in Tewksbury from 1962 until 2000, where he was a long-serving member of the Tewksbury Fire Department. He began his career with the Fire Department in April 1969, and retired Badge Number 25, in March 1993. In 2000, Cosie and Pat moved to their York Beach “Nubble” home.
Cosie loved the ocean and yachting as a member of the Palmer Cove Yacht Club in Salem, MA. He served as a member of the Board of Directors, Rear Commodore, Vice-Commodore and finally as Commodore of the Salem Harbor club. He was a beloved and respected member of the club.
He leaves a son, A. Joseph and his wife Joanna DiBiase of Newburyport; a daughter, Patricia M. Connors of Tewksbury; three beloved grandchildren, Julia DiBiase, Caterina DiBiase and Robert Connors; two sisters, Florence Zarrella of Leominster and Betty Callanan of Plymouth; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Andrews of Hampton, NH; brothers-in-law Charles Carline of Seabrook, NH, Raymond Campbell of Quincy; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine Zarrella and Rose Ulbrich.
Visiting hours Sunday, March 19, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Street, TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin at 10:30 from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass, Monday, March 20th at 11:30 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors will be in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
