Hope B. Amell, age 87, passed away on Sat, Mar. 11, 2017 at Redstone in east Longmeadow. Hope was born in Pawtucket, RI on Jul. 21, 1929 to the late Thomas and Bertha (Pilling) Brown. She graduated from the New England Deaconess School of Nursing Class of 1950 and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at the Soldier’s Home. She later went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Elms College. Hope enjoyed feeding birds and knitting. She was predeceased by her husband Robert G. Amell and one brother Grafton Brown. She leaves one son, David Amell and his wife Joan of Springfield; one daughter, Janice Harler and her husband Donnie of Oak Island, NC; four grandchildren, Rondi and Dawn Amell, and Jason and Alissa Harler and four great grandchildren, Kaitlee Wright-Amell, Mason Amell, Elijah Harler and Owen Harler. Funeral Services will be held on Fri, Mar 17, 2017 at 9:30 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee with a Funeral Home service to take place at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Thurs, Mar 16, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
