Obituary

Modesto “Les” Rodriguez, age 78, of Wayland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Royal Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Marie (Bache) Rodriguez, sharing 54 wonderful years of marriage.

After leaving his home in Puerto Rico at the age of 18 to venture to the United States, he first settled in Florida and then moved on to make the Boston area his home. He soon gained employment as a chef and quickly gained the respect of others for his talent. Modesto had an unending passion for cooking while at work or at home preparing a meal for his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at the horse tracks or watching horse racing on TV. Most of all, he truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. They were what mattered most to him. He gained so much pleasure from preparing something special in the kitchen on Sundays and holidays while eagerly awaiting for his family and friends to arrive.

In addition to his wife Marie, Modesto is survived by his children, Patricia Kneeland and her husband Paul of Basking Ridge, NJ, Kathy Bowles and her husband Donald of Framingham, grandchildren, Brendan, Alissa, Lindsey, and Michael. Modesto was predeceased by his son Douglas Thistle.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service for Modesto in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common on Thursday, March 16 at 6:00 P.M. Visiting hours will begin at 4:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Modesto’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
