Mary Josephine (Conti) Petroni, 96, of East Walpole, died March 12 in the Harrington House in Walpole. She was the wife of the late Lili D. Petroni who died in 1971.
Born in Revere, November 1,1920, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Liberatta (Petroni) Conti, Mrs. Petroni was raised in Revere and had lived in East Walpole since 1941.
Mary had worked for the Bird & Son Company for nearly 60 years.
She began in the cafeteria then worked at the box shop and ended her career as a clerk at the roofing department all in East Walpole.
Mary loved to cook and to knit. She had made baby hats for new babies at Norwood Hospital for many years.
She is survived by her children Mildred Gaudreau and her husband Gerald P. Gaudreau of Foxboro and Richard J. Petroni and his wife Dorothy B. Petroni of Walpole.
She is also survived by her brother Richard Conti of Arlington and was the sister of the late Eleanor Daneau and Mario Conti.
Mary is also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Petroni of East Walpole.
Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Steven, Susan, Richard, Terese and Jayson and her great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Brandon, Bella and Rocco.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 11:00 A.M.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, South Walpole.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 A.M.
