Obituary


Anderson—Christopher “Chris” Jon Williams, 47, of Anderson passed away March 11, 2017 at IU Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on Dec. 4, 1969 in Des Moines, Iowa to O. Dale Williams and the late E. Jane Williams. He resided most of his life in Anderson.
He began a distinguished career at Anderson University in 1995. During his 22 years of leadership at the university he served in a wide capacity of roles including Director of University Communications and Community Relations, Director of University Communications, and Director of Media and Electronic Communications. He most recently served as Director of Events and Special Projects. He was a popular instructor of Public Relations at the undergraduate level. He served on numerous committees and councils at the university.
Prior to his career at Anderson University he was Director of Public Relations for Kruse International in Auburn, Indiana.
He was a member of many local and national boards including Leadership Academy of Madison County; Visitors Bureau of Madison County; Liberty Christian School; Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (Washington D.C.)and I-CASE. He also served on the Church of God Ministries communications committee.
A 1992 graduate of Anderson University he earned an MBA from the Falls School of Business in 2000, graduating with academic honors.
He was an active member of Wesley Free Methodist Church for more than 25 years and was a frequent part of many worship, drama and outreach programs. He loved his church family.
Chris was a dedicated and loving husband, father and friend. He loved everything that gave him special moments with his family, especially their annual trips to Hilton Head, South Carolina. His greatest joy was people.
Chris is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kim and daughters Emma and Lucy; father, O. Dale Williams (Maureen) of Auburn; brother Tony of Laporte, and nieces and nephews: Natalie Williams, Elle Smith, Reese Smith and Luke Morosko. He is also survived by his in-laws, Marlowe and Diane Morosko of Huntsburg, Ohio, brother and sister-in-laws: Monique and Aaron Smith and Chris and Kerry Morosko. He also leaves behind his close friends Matt and Melissa Rust and George Abiad of Anderson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2 PM at Park Place Church of God officiated by Pastor Marc Adams. Private family graveside rites will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2-8 PM at Rozelle- Johnson Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Chris Williams Memorial c/o Madison County Federal Credit Union, 621 East 8th Street, Anderson, Indiana 46012. These donations will be used to provide for the future needs of his daughters.
