Obituary

Maura Louise Sullivan (Norton), age 61 of Canton, passed away March 11th in the loving embrace of her family and closest friends following a private but fierce battle with cancer. Born and raised in Attleboro, she graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in 1974. Maura went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University and Juris Doctor from New England School of Law. She has been a resident and active member of the Town of Canton for the last 35 years where was the Co-Founder of the Canton Sports History Project and Hall of Fame, a member of the Canton High School Field Hockey Boosters Club, a 10 year Chairperson of the Hansen School Parental Advisory Council, a moderator for Cable 8 television, and an active participant and volunteer in local elections. She was also an avid Patriots and Boston sports fan. A universally respected attorney, Maura practiced law for over 30 years and had her own Family Law Practice in Canton. Maura was involved in numerous professional associations including presiding as a Board Member of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Association, and active member of the Norfolk, Plymouth, and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
Beloved wife of Gerald J., Jr. Loving mother of Kevin M. Sullivan and his wife Erin Barbato of Durham, N.C. and Alaina “Lainey” Sullivan and her fiancé Brandon Shemtob of Canton. Devoted daughter of Phillip Norton, Sr. and the late Louise Norton of Bourne, MA and Naples, FL. Sister to Phillip Norton (Warwick, RI); Thomas Norton (Bourne); Timothy Norton (Leominster); Jane Frances Norton (Falmouth); Judy Norton Senfleben (Groveland); and Julianne Duss (Norwell).
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday, March 17 from 3-7 pm. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Saturday, March 18 at 10:00am, with a reception to follow. Burial private. We welcome those who come to celebrate her life to wear her favorite colors of cream and hydrangea blue.
Maura lived life with a twinkle in her eye and taught us all how to love out loud.
