NATICK: Mary L. McDermott, 86, of Natick, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at Leonard Morse MetroWest Medical Center. She had been the devoted wife of Edward McDermott for 64 years.
A lifelong resident of Natick, Mary was a graduate of the Natick High School Class of 1948 and was married four years later. She loved and cared for her family, worked hard, and enjoyed nature, gardening, and her many creative hobbies. A fun, social and generous person, Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by Edward; their son Mark McDermott and his wife June; daughter Ann McDermott; two grandsons, Matthew McDermott and his wife Nicole, and Jonathan McDermott; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also the mother of the late Kevin McDermott and sister of the late Leonard Coffey, James Coffey and Jack Coffey. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Abby.
At Mary’s request, services will be private. Donations may be made in her memory to the Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton, 5 Rafferty Road, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
