Marian E. (Whitcomb) Conley, age 94, of Brockton, died peacefully, March 10, 2017 at her home under the care of her seven daughters. Marian was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late J. Frank Conley, Jr. Born and raised in Evanston, IL, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Gladys (Travis) Whitcomb and had been a resident of Brockton for over 70 years.
Marian was a 1944 graduate of Mass State College, Amherst, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. It was in college, as a sister in Kappa Kappa Gamma, that she met her husband. She enjoyed gardening, vacationing in Eastham, and most especially spending time with her family. Over the years, Marian was a member and volunteer of several charitable organizations in the city, but felt her greatest achievement was raising and educating her seven daughters.
Marian was the loving mother of Susan A. Nichols of Norton; Elizabeth E. Cochran and her husband Jerry of Loveland, CO; Anne F. Roan and her husband Steve of Brockton; Mary C. Ellis of South Dartmouth; A. Patricia Cirillo and her husband Ralph of Barrington, RI; Jane W. Lukasiewicz and her husband Steven of Avon; and the Rev. Joan F. Conley of Denville, NJ. She was the cherished grandmother of Sarah and Katrina Nichols; Megan Powell and Tricia Sichmeller; Kaitlin Clark and Mollie Collum; Matthew, Michael and Mark Cirillo; and Elena and Hector Enrique Munoz. She was also the great grandmother of Ben and Abbie; Elle, Maeve and John; Colton and Hannah; Tessa, Harrison and Cole; and Connor and Hallie. She was the sister of the late Richard T. Whitcomb, Charles Whitcomb, and Marjorie Whitcomb. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, Monday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 8am for a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
