Obituary

Florence Rae Jones Baker, 98, of Anderson went to be with the Lord and her many loved ones on, March 9th, after a brief illness. She was born April 12, 1918, in Monon, Indiana to William and Lettie Jones. She was the youngest of 3 sisters: Beulah Jones, Bonnie Kaiser, and her beloved twin sister, Frances Clem.

After graduating from Monon High School she attended Hart County Normal for Teachers and eventually became a teacher in a one room school house outside of Hart, Michigan. In 1953, after moving to Anderson, she began working at Delco Remy where she worked until her retirement.

She married the love of her life, Robert G. Baker, in January 1938. Together they had three children: Terry (deceased), David (deceased) and Bonnie.

In earlier years she was a member of Central Christian Church, but more recently attended her neighborhood church that she loved, Fifth Street United Methodist.

She loved music, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, dessert, traveling around the world with her sister, Bonnie, and reading before she developed Macular Degeneration. She was an active member of Optical Optimists (a blind outreach from Christ Lutheran Church). She had been a member of the Ivy Rebekahs, where she had received the Degree of Chivalry, Home Economics, Questers, and Antique Club.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Bonnie Baker Jones (Rodney); grandchildren, Donna Fisk (David), Todd Baker (Lisa Hannah), Patrick Baker (Mikka), Darren Baker, Amy Hoagland, and Jessica Quire Wirsch (Andy); members of Gigi’s Posse, Rachel Gerdes, Gabrielle Baker, Grace and Sophia Hoagland, Campbell and Baker Quire, Taylor Wirsch, and Elijah Hannah-Baker. She had 3 special great-grandchildren: Jordan, Sabrina, and Jackson, along with 2 nieces, Kay Lester and Diane Moore, a nephew, Derrek Clem (deceased) and several great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Troy Abbott, the nurses and technicians at Community Hospital Anderson on the 5th floor and her special neighbors: Linda, James, Leah and long-time friend, Brilla Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Baker; her sons, Terry and David Baker; her parents; sisters and her twin sister.
