Herman Glenn Jones, age 75, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born November 7, 1941 in Water Valley, MS to the late William “Herman” Jones and Estelle Bankston Jones. Glenn worked for the Department of Corrections and was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church. He loved his family, friends, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with horses.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will held 1:00 pm Friday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Crawford and Donald Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery with Fred Childs, Terry Winters, Barry Vaughn, Charlie Cole, Kim Showers, and Randy Walker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Stribling, Frank B. Brooks, John Whitsett, Tom Baker, Billy Wilder, and Travis Brooks.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty Hubbard Jones of Water Valley, MS; one daughter, Linda Jones Claus of Fairfield, CA; one son, William “Bill” Jones of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Nancy (Glenn) Smith of Oxford, MS and Abbie (Walter) Coffman of Nashville, TN; and one grandson, Andrew Duchnowski and his financee, Mari Starkey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Murphy and one brother, Steve Jones.
