Tewksbury - Mrs. Anne Beatrice (Ullrich) Moffitt, age 81, Matriarch of a family of six children, died peacefully early Sunday morning, March 5, in the loving care of her family at her Tewksbury home. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Thomas Moffitt, who died in 2000.
Anne was born in Malden in March 1935, one of three children of the late Howard and Margaret (Cooke) Ullrich, and lived in Malden before moving to Tewksbury in the care of her daughter and her family in Tewksbury in 2011. She was educated in Malden Parochial Schools and graduated from Malden Chevrus Catholic High School.
Anne was proud of her Irish heritage, and maintained close family ties to her cousins in Galway and Dublin, Ireland. Among the highlights of her life was a trip to Ireland several years ago, where she was able to visit her ancestral family home.
She loved to travel to her daughter and son-in-law’s home off West Side Drive in No. Conway, NH, and was well known and welcomed in the many shops and restaurants of the region.
She leaves her children, Linda Anne and her husband James Sutherby with whom she resided in Tewksbury and No. Conway, Donna M. Burns of Windham, NH, Edward J. Moffitt of Andover, Robert E. Moffitt and his wife Heidi (Lutzker) of Manchester, NH, John H. Moffitt of Lynn, James M. Moffitt and his wife Rachel (Wolf) of Nashua, NH; her daughters-in-law, Giulia (Della Gatta) Moffitt of Andover and Elizabeth Hazel of Tampa, FL; ten grandchildren; two great grandsons; a brother David Ullrich of Melrose; nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her sister Mary DeTucci.
Visiting hours Thursday, March 9, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral Mass will be held Friday, Mar. 10, at 10:00 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery in Malden.
