Marissa Rita Carbone, of Somerville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 1st at the Cambridge Hospital. She was 43.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Teresa Tierney and Anthony Carbone. Since the first grade, Marissa was known as a social butterfly. Her mother remembered the teachers always saying that she would be the first student finished with an assignment and would be ready to socialize with all her friends. Everyone wanted to be around her for her infectious laugh and charismatic personality.
Marissa graduated from Pope John Paul XXIII in 1991 and went on to further her education at Mount Ida College. She graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion merchandising.
In 2004, Marissa and her husband Christopher married at St. Ann’s Church in Somerville. They loved each other dearly and were devoted to their family. She worked as a customer sales representative with the Verizon Corporation, but when she wasn’t working she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She also spent her free time reading. Marissa loved all kinds of books, though her favorites were authored by James Patterson and Nora Roberts.
When it was warm out, Marissa spent time at the beach. She loved to swim; the bigger the waves, the better! There was nothing more relaxing to her than putting her feet in the sand, watching the water, and feeling the sea breeze on her face.
Marissa also enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Europe to visit Italy and Ireland, the two countries from which her ancestors immigrated. She enjoyed both countries, though Italy always held a special place in her heart. In August of 2016, she, her husband, son, and mother traveled to Mexico. They had a wonderful time there. It was a trip that they’ll always remember.
Marissa was a fun, kind, loving and selfless person. She was a dedicated mother and wonderful wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She will always be remembered for her captivating personality and generosity of spirit.
She was the beloved wife of Christopher Sanecchiaro and the devoted mother of Anthony J. Sanecchiaro, both of Somerville; a cherished daughter of Teresa Tierney of Somerville and Anthony Carbone and his wife Jean of Florida. She was a treasured granddaughter of Rita Tierney. She was the dear sister of Janelle Ricciuti of Woburn, Sherri Jones and Edward Kronmuller, both of Florida. She is also survived by two nephews and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Monday, March 6th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer Street, Somerville, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 through 8PM. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Marissa’s name to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
