Pietra Pappalardo, 87, of Methuen, passed away on February 23, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Pietra was born on December 16, 1929 to the late Giovanni and Grazia (Sorbello) Motta in San Giovanni La Punta, Italy. After immigrating to the United States, Pietra settled in Methuen with her husband to raise her family. She worked for many years until her retirement as a taylor for Greico Brothers. Pietra was deeply devoted to her family and her granddaughter. She was known for having a creative flair that was displayed through her phenomenal cooking, and her love of crocheting. Pietra was an energetic woman who loved and lived life to its fullest. She was a woman who loved nature, spending quiet tranquil time gardening. Pietra touched many lives and she will be missed.
Pietra is survived by her loving daughter, Ginny Licari of Methuen. She was the cherished grandmother to Valentina and her fiancé David. Pietra was the great-grandmother to her great-grandson Soid. She is also survived by her two sisters in Italy. Pietra was the beloved aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore D. Licari.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 9, 2017, 12:00 PM at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish-St. Theresa, 22 Plymouth St. Methuen, Massachusetts. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell St, Methuen, MA.
