Obituary

Genevieve (Niedzwiecka) “Jennie” Stevenson, 90, a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away on Feb. 26, 2017, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife for 44 years of the late Franklin W. Stevenson, until his passing in 1995.

Born in South Boston, Jennie was the daughter of the late Paul and Marianna Niedzwiecka. She was raised and educated in South Boston and graduated from St. Mary’s School. She attended LaSalle College. She and Franklin raised their family in Winchester, where she was a bookkeeper at the Purity Supreme Supermarket, then at Stop and Shop, for many years until her retirement. After retirement, she worked for several years as an activities director at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester.

A talented seamstress, Mrs. Stevenson made clothes, First Communion outfits and Halloween costumes for her children. She also loved to knit, and enjoyed cooking and baking – especially blueberry cakes and whoopee pies. She loved hosting Christmas Eve at her home.

Jennie was the loving mother of Michael Stevenson of NJ, Holly Ann Stevenson of Winchester, and the late Paul F. and Mark P. Stevenson. She was also the dear grandmother of Matthew, Daniel, Brooke, Kyle Stevenson and his wife MacKenzie, Kellsie Stevenson, Crystal O’Brien and the late Alexander Stevenson, and the devoted great-grandmother of Emily and Hailey O’Brien, Timothy and Kendrick Daley, Charlotte and Madison Genevieve Stevenson. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Friday, March 3, from 4-8PM, and again on Saturday at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
