Obituary

BLACK Joseph F. Jr., Age 62, born December 8, 1954, of Dedham passed away on February 25, 2017. Beloved husband of Gertrude D. “Trudy” (Kapsis) Black. Devoted father of Kathleen Mary Black of Raleigh, NC., Samuel Joseph Black and Kelly Rose Black both of Dedham.

Brother of Mary Walsh of Falmouth and her late husband Stephen, Patricia Acton of Newton and her late husbands Jim Acton and Joe Anastasi, Joanne Gaulin and her husband Ron of Woonsocket, RI., Fran Gagnon and her husband Bob of Old Orchard Beach, ME. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Joseph was a Boston Public School Music Teacher for over 20 years and nothing made him happier than bringing joy and music into children's lives. He owned and ran the Dedham Auto School for more than 40 years. He was a beloved member of the Dedham community and a familiar face on the soccer field as a longtime coach of his children's soccer teams. He loved playing his guitar and was the bass player of many bands since his high school days, including his most recent, Windfall. He was an avid Boston sports fan and never missed watching a Sox, Pats, or Celtics game. He was a beloved father and brought so much love, kindness, and friendship into so many people's lives. 

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. Dedham on Wed. Mar. 1st at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives & Friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Tue. Feb. 28th from 4-8pm. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
