Obituary

Webster: Dr. Bennett "Ben" E. Gordon, Jr., PhD, 73, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of almost 50 years, Anne L. (Brierly) Gordon; a son Stephen E. Gordon and his wife Sarah H. Rosenberg of Chelmsford; a granddaughter- Sophie V. Gordon; a sister-in-law Betty and her husband Dr. Thomas Condon; nephews Michael C. Condon, Joseph and his wife Leslie Condon, and their son Vaughn S. Condon; very close friends Joan and James Adams of Holden; and his beloved pets Percy, Katie and Viola. Ben was pre-deceased by a daughter Susan E. Gordon.

Ben was born in Worcester, son of the late Bennett and Charlotte (Bottomley) Gordon. He graduated from Auburn High School, and earned his Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree and PhD from W.P.I. He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, taught Mechanical Engineering at W.P.I. for over 20 years where he was a member of the Alden Society, and owned and operated Trans Flow Energy in Mashpee. He was a boat enthusiast and loved being on or near the water, and enjoyed designing and building houses. Ben's favorite holiday was July 4th and he actively participated in the annual Gordon Family party. He was a very kind and generous person.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. in the family home. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan E. Gordon Scholarship at Notre Dame Academy, 425 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
